History: This 1966 Vibrolux Reverb is being sold on consignment for Marty Lee Hoenes of Donnie Iris and the Cruisers. It was used extensively on tour and to record the 1980 album "Back on the Streets" including the hit "Ah! Leah!". During the Spring of 1978 this amp took a trip to Studio City, California where Paul Rivera could still be found modifying amps at Valley Arts Guitar. The "Stage 2" modifications were all done by Paul Rivera himself. No additional modifications or changes of any kind have been made since that time.
Modifications: This amp was changed from 2x10 to a single 12-Inch Electro-Voice EVM-12L Speaker. Stage 2 Modifications were done by Paul Rivera in 1978. Paul Rivera modified amps from 1968 to 1981 before joining Fender in 1984. In 1986 he established his own brand of amplifiers under the Rivera name. His modifications were highly sought after by top LA session musicians such as Larry Carlton, Dean Parks, and Jay Graydon, among many others. These modifications, which allowed for both clean and lead tones from a single amp, were used on countless famous soundtracks, including Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and the majority of the "Thriller" album. Additionally, his amps were featured on records by a plethora of legendary artists, such as George Benson, Ray Charles, and Steely Dan, to name a few.
