1959 250K JAZZMASTER
New for 2023, the Fender Custom Shop introduced the '59 250K Jazzmaster Journeyman Relic. 65 years after the model debuted in 1958, this striking 1959 model is loaded with looks, sound and vibe that expertly evoke the Jazzmaster in its original era, plus some modern modification discerning players will appreciate.
The sleek two-piece select ash body wears Journeyman Relic lacquer finishes in Chocolate Three-Color Sunburst, Aged White Blonde and Aged Dakota Red. This special treatment imparts the look of a guitar that has changed hands or been handed down over the years, mostly played around the house and the occasional jam session or weekend gig. This generally well-cared-for look includes light finish checking, several "friendly" down-to-the-wood nicks and dings, some dulling of the hardware, and general moderate playing wear. The look of a very lucky find, in short.
The rift-sawn maple neck has a '62-style Jazzmaster "C" profile, topped by a 9.5"-radius flat-lam rosewood fingerboard with 21 narrow tall (6105) frets and a bone nut. To add more vintage flair, there's a single-ply gold anodized aluminum pickguard (a prized early Jazzmaster appointment), two Custom Shop hand-wound '62 Jazzmaster Pickups with a three-way pickup switch, vintage dual-circuit (lead/rhythm) wiring and, in a special modern touch, 250k volume and tone potentiometers that enhance tone and playability.
CONTROLS: Lead Circuit Controls (Slide Switch Down): 250K Master Volume, 250K Master Tone; Rhythm Circuit Controls (Slide Switch Up): Two Thumbwheel Controls for Neck Pickup Volume and Tone
BRIDGE: RSD Jazzmaster Bridge
PICKGUARD: PGA Jazzmaster 250K Anodized
TUNING MACHINES: Vintage Style, Relic
STRINGS: Nickel Plated Steel (.010-.046 Gauges)
FENDER CUSTOM SHOP
A Fender Custom Shop instrument is extraordinary. You know it when you play one—it’s definitely more than the sum of its parts. It’s filled with intangible, electrifying elements that add a new dimension to your playing experience. It’s as if the instrument itself is imbued with history, alive with the spirit of the place where it was built and the devotion of those who crafted it.
The Custom Shop is home to Fender’s most skilled and talented builders. It’s a bustling, noisy and creatively volcanic place that re-earns its nickname—the Dream Factory—every day. Custom Shop builders are completely dedicated to their art—part craftsman, part artist, part music fan and, more often than not, part mad scientist. They’re the best at what they do, and they pour all of their passion, hard-earned knowledge and skill into every instrument they build. It’s no ordinary place, and the creations that come from it are no ordinary instruments. This is Fender Custom Shop.
